Bonn is located in Western Germany, hometown of over 300.000 citizens and well-known for its university which has become a University of Excellence in 2019. The University of Bonn is one of the largest traditional research universities in Germany and with approximately 35,000 students, creating a multicultural and vibrant student life in Bonn. 

As the former capital city of Germany, Bonn is highly characterised by its history and still many public authorities and governmental departments are located here. Further, Bonn is a UN city and therefore, hosts more than 20 UN organisations working in the areas of climate change, sustainability, health for instance. Lastly, also the GIZ, which is a federal organisation that supports development and transformation processes worldwide in order to foster political, economic and social stability, contributes to the image of Bonn as an international city of progress and cooperation.

Being located right next to the Rhine and nearby the Siebengebirge, Bonn offers great places for outdoor activities or simply to relax in your spare time. Further, proudly being called itself ‚Beethoven City‘, Bonn values its pluralism of culture and arts.
